2 Dead, 5 Hurt as Families Dispute Erupts into Gunfire in Bab al-Tabbaneh
Two people were killed and five others were wounded on Sunday when a dispute between the families of Shaaban and Zahra erupted into gunfire in the Tripoli district of Bab al-Tabbaneh, state-run National News Agency reported.
The wounded were rushed to the Islamic Hospital in Tripoli as Internal Security Forces and army troops arrived immediately on the scene and contained the situation, NNA said.
The agency identified the dead as Hassan Khalaf and Syrian national Mustafa al-Kharfan. It identified the wounded as Talal Zahra, Mahmoud Zahra, Hussam al-Sabbagh, Ahmed al-Msann and Mustafa al-Mshadd.
Earlier on Sunday, LBCI television reported that “two people were killed and 10 others wounded as a personal dispute over the rent of an apartment erupted into gunfire in Bab al-Tabbaneh.”
Clashes on Friday and Saturday between Bab al-Tabbaneh and the rival Jabal Mohsen district left over 20 people wounded, including three soldiers.
Security forces managed to restore calm in the two districts on Sunday.
