Sanjeevan: I will make more exposés soon

The MyWatch chairman says that he is also in the lookout for a new patron to helm his NGO and touched on the unlawful detention of his friend B Ramesh, who was a witness to his shooting.

PETALING JAYA: Anti-crime NGO, MyWatch will continue to make exposés on crime issues and dirty cops tarnishing the police force soon.

“I will focus on crime statistics and video confessions. All will be revealed in due course of time. Just that I’m tied up with a few things for now,” said MyWatch chairman R Sri Sanjeevan, 30, when met for an interview at hotel.

Sanjeevan still has a cast supporting his right arm, a ‘legacy’ from being shot by an unknown gunman on July 27.

Last year, Sanjeevan was gunned down in Bahau, Negeri Sembilan, weeks after he made a startling video revelation on alleged drug syndicate involving dirty police officers.

Although Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar had vowed to probe the mater, no one was arrested or charged for the crime so far.

“Khalid vowed to investigate the matter but it was a mere lip service. He even appointed Bukit Aman CID chief (Hadi Ho Abdullah) to probe my case but nothing came up to date.

“Does it mean that he has an incompetent man as a CID director?” asked Sanjeevan.

Asked on MyWatch post the tragedy, Sanjeevan conceded that many are afraid to come forward and be affiliated with his NGO after the shooting.

“ A lot of them are scared to be with MyWatch. Even my friend, B Ramesh was mistreated by the cops,” claimed Sanjeevan.

Ramesh was with Sanjeevan when he was shot. Although he was requested by the Negeri Sembilan police to give statement on the case, he was subsequently arrested and charged under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985 and sent to the Muar detention centre.

However, Ramesh was freed by the Home Ministry’s Consultative Board on January 2.

On Ramesh, Sanjeevan claimed that his friend was physically abused by the police during his 60 days detention at police remand centre in Kuala Lumpur.

“They kept asking him on who was the man in the video who made the expose last year. They even called in experts to see whether it was Ramesh in the video but it was proven negative.

“Ramesh’s ordeal shows that whistleblowers’ in Malaysia are at risk,” he said.

Sanjeevan added that his exposes on dirty cops were proven to be true when MACC had recently launched investigations against 60 police officers based in Kuala Lumpur.

“One senior ranking cop in KL, who holds a Datuk title, was investigated for having RM 6 million in assets. So what I said in the past was not baseless,” he said.

On MyWatch, Sanjeevan said that he currently scouting for a new patron to helm the NGO.

“I’m in talks with a former law enforcement man, with a Tan Sri title attached to him. I will make an announcement once he gives the nod,” said Sanjeevan.

He added that volunteers are also trickling in, albeit not in the range of the past.

On a light subject, Sanjeevan laughed and dismissed queries on whether he saw ‘a light at the end of tunnel’ while he was comatose for about a month.

“There is no such thing. However, I did have an out of body experience where I saw people gathered at my bedside. I saw them in a manner of a third party.

“I even saw my parents and I tried calling them, even touching them, but they could not hear or see me,” said Sanjeevan.
