PKR: Anwar may be arrested over Lahad Datu

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said that the opposition leader may be arrested soon to divert public attention from the government's failure in handling the intrusion into Lahad Datu.

PETALING JAYA: It is highly probable that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim may be arrested soon for supposedly being involved in the Lahad Datu intrusion, said PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

He said this was the government’s way of trying to divert public attention from its mistakes in handling the Lahad Datu issue.

“For the past 15 years, they [government] have tried blaming Anwar for everything wrong in the country.

“But to link him to the Lahad Datu incident is highly preposterous,” said the Gombak MP.

Lately, pro-Umno dailies have played up a report by Filipino media, the Philippines Daily Inquirer, which claimed that a politician linked to Anwar had invited the Sulu intruders to Sabah.

Despite denials by Anwar and Sulu leader, Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, many have lodged police reports against the former deputy prime minister.

Yesterday, online media, Malaysia Chronicles, quoted PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli as saying  that there were speculations that Anwar would be arrested soon over the alleged “invitation”.
Azmin said that the government was already targeting several other opposition leaders to blame, including himself.

“I was served a notice by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission [MCMC], telling me to give a statement at 2pm today.

“When my lawyers asked them on what issue, they just said it is something related to Lahad Datu,” he said.

When contacted on speculation of Anwar’s impending arrest, Bukit Aman CID chief Bakri Zinin said,” You have to ask the Inspector-General of Police [Ismail Omar] or Sabah police commissioner [Hamza Taib].”

Azmin expressed condolences to the families of the security personnel that lost their lives in Sabah.

He urged their families to be patient during these testing times and heaped laurels on their sacrifice.

“Pakatan is always committed to supporting our police and military to defend the sovereignty of our country,” said Azmin.

Tapi dalam apa keadaan pun aku berharap dan berdoa yang semuanya ini hanyalah illusi semata-mata. Perkara yang tidak akan berlaku kerana, mustahil bagi pemimpin-pemimpin Melayu dan Islam mengikut jejak langkah Yahudi dan Amerika mengorbankan keamanan negara semata-mata kerana servival politik!

1. Sekiranya benar apa yang dijangka, Anwar ditangkap rakyat mungkin tidak boleh menerima tuduhan yang dikenakan rakyat mungkin akan berarak di jalanraya.

2. Mungkin akan ada satu lagi operasi seumpama operasi lalang di zaman Mahathir dan pemimpin-pemimpin parti pembangkang akan ditangkap untuk melemahkan Pembangkang

3. Sekiranya susana kacau bilau tidak terkawal, 'darurat' akan di istiharkan dan secara langsung PRU akan tertangguh dan mereka akan menggunakan masa ini untuk melemahkan kekuatan Pembangkang sepertimana yang dipaksakan kepada Kelantan satu ketika dulu yang menumbangkan PAS di Kelantan
