Good Samaritans killed after rescuing accident victims
January 25, 2013
IPOH, Jan 25 — Two good Samaritans were killed
after rescuing accident victims in a pile-up along the northbound of the
Km 258.5 of the North-South Expressway near the Menora Tunnel this
morning.
Car driver S. Lee Pride, 31, and tow truck worker S.
Praveen, 26, were directing traffic following a bumper-to-bumper
accident involving a trailer, a lorry and two cars — a Proton Waja and a
Proton Persona — when they were allegedly knocked down by a speeding
van at 10.30am.
Kuala Kangsar police chief Supt Abdul Gaffar Muhamad said
the incident occurred after Lee, who was from Taman Sri Tengah, Kluang,
Johor and Praveen, who was from Kuala Kangsar, rescued the driver and
passengers of a Persona which stalled across the expressway.
He said Lee, who was heading for Sungai Petani, Kedah from
Kluang, stopped his Wira near the Persona to help Praveen regulate the
traffic.
“The duo were hit by a van driven by a 29-year-old man who
also rammed into the Persona. They died of head injuries at the scene,”
said Abdul Gaffar when contacted. — MI
