Mahathir should stand aside

Dr Mahathir Mohamad is one man who will not be able to behave as a statesman. Rotten to the core, his reputation was already bad during Tunku Abdul Rahman’s time.

When he finally became the fourth prime minister, he went on to dismantle all the important institutions of this country. He was known as the Mr 10%, as far as I remember.

When he lost badly in the 1999 General Election, Mahathir should have stepped down. Instead, all he did was to shed some crocodile tears, and his supporters just urged him not to quit, when the rest of Malaysia wanted him to step down.

Finally, when he stepped down, everyone was jubilant. His successor, Abdullah Badawi then led the BN to win big in the 2004 General Election. What happened after that? Because of his jealousy towards Abdullah Badawi, he started whacking his successor.

Now, he is also pitting Najib against Muhyiddin, and Muhyiddin against Najib. This is done for the sake of pushing his son up. Fortunately, Mukhriz has little or no caliber as a politician as far as we are concerned.

Mahathir should realise that his time is already up – a long time ago! He should stop behaving ultra-Malay when he is in the first place not truly Malay. As no man or culture in this world takes on the lineage of his mother, Mahathir should stop pretending to be a Malay leader.

Instead, Mahathir should admit his country of origin, and move on from there before the whole nation rises to call him a ‘Bastard’ who fails to acknowledge his own roots.
