Dilemma Setiap Rakyat Malaysia?

Saya rasa bukan dilemma semua orang

Every Malaysian’s dilemma

FMT LETTER: From Natesan Visnu, via e-mail

We live in a period of political uncertainty in Malaysia. Barisan Nasional (BN) has formed the government despite the electoral controversy. On the other hand, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has not accepted defeat and is contesting the election results. The concept of bipartisanship to find a common ground for working relationship between two parties will only create further chaos in political system. Malaysians are in real political dilemma. The question that plays on our mind is, what’s next?
The current Umno leadership has lost its credibility to govern the country. BN component members MCA, MIC and Gerakan have failed to perform in the general election. Mahathir via his latest blog posting said the crisis in the Umno was contributed by the failure of Umno members to fight for Malays and Umno leaders being more interested in their political survival.
Borrowing a Marxist’s phrase, BN were ruling the country on Bourgeois nationalism. By definition, Bourgeois nationalism is a practice of the ruling class to divide and rule by segregating the working class from potential revolt. The ‘winning formula’ has lost its essence and people have rejected the ideology. The popular vote has proven the rejection for Bourgeois nationalism.
The credibility of cabinet ministers appointed by Najib has further sparked angst among Malaysians. The appointment of Paul Low is a just window-dressing and does not prove the sincerity for reform actions in the government. The appointment of Waytha has created crisis among Indian leaders in the cabinet.
MIC has been the representative for Indians. The move to appoint Waytha confirms the divide and conquer strategy deployed by Najib within Barisan Nasional to further divide the Indians. Shamelessly, the MIC leadership has accepted the cabinet post despite the conflict of interest with Hindraf. That leads us to question the integrity among Indian leaders in Barisan Nasional.
BN survival in the Malaysian political system is due to identity politics. By definition, identity politics focuses on minority a group’s interest and it is shaped by race, religion, ethnicity and history. The minority influence of BN leaders has influence the majority to accept the belief of the leaders of the past. Identity politics benefitted the lobbyist and ignored the public’s choice. Instead of focusing on creating wealth, the cronies manipulated the political and economy system to benefit the minority. The rent seeking activities has further reduced the wealth of the people. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. As we notice, the gap between the rich and poor in our country is increasing and this is solely because of the ruling government’s poor governance.
The premier of the country blames the Chinese, and despite the pledge to eradicate ISA, detainees are dying under police custody, opposition leaders are not allowed to enter Sabah, prices of goods are increasing, corrupt leaders are appointed to represent us, the media is used as political propaganda agent, students are burdened with debts, the education system is a joke, losing our competitiveness in global arena, foreign investors are shutting down their operation and relocating to China, the intellectuals of the country are interested in money rather than intellectual pursuits, the Senate are bench warmers without any constructive role and the list goes on and on.
In a nutshell, our political representation is just a window dressing and the politicians serve the minority not the majority. We live in a time where plutocrats rule Malaysia. The common people live in uncertainty, fear, deprived from basic human rights, declining economy growth and continuous suffering under BN plutocrats.
The frustration continues when our voice is not recognised. The BN plutocrats ignore our will and use their power to deny our rights. The plutocrats are doing whatever it takes to dampen our spirit for a better Malaysia. Do we give up or continue to fight? We are oppressed by the political will of BN regime. When you have nothing, you got nothing to lose.
Commoners have nothing but the spirit to continue the struggle. The fight belongs to you and me. You have been stripped off from all your privileges as a human and Malaysian. You are left with no choice but to fight for your survival. You can choose to leave the country as recommended by Zahid or join the ‘black’ soldiers. The choice is yours.
