Wee Ka Siong says Shah Alam must ensure return of seized bibles
KUALA LUMPUR: MCA has demanded that the Selangor government instruct the state religious department (Jais) to withdraw all charges against the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) and return the bibles it seized from the society last week.
Speaking at a press conference here today, MCA Deputy President Wee Ka Siong said the Pakatan Rakyat administration in Shah Alam must accept responsibility for the controversial Jais raid on BSM and stop shifting the blame to the federal government.
“They are responsible for this issue but, sadly, they are trying to escape,” he said.
Wee also rejected Jais’ explanation that its officials forgot to notify the Selangor religious exco before conducting the raid. He described it as an “excuse” that was “totally unacceptable”.
Meanwhile, MCA Religious Harmony Bureau Chairman Ti Lian Ker said in a press release that his party was in support of the National Unity Consultative Council criticism of the raid and seizure of Malay and Iban translations of the Bible.
He urged religious bodies in the country to respect the protection that the Federal Constitution provides to non-Muslims.
“Every religious group has the right to manage its own religion affairs,” he said, quoting Article 11 of the constitution.
Ti also demanded the return of bibles seized from BSM and denounced Pakatan Rakyat for what he said was its failure to to fulfill a pledge to guarantee freedom of religion.
Referring to statements by Pakatan leaders about the Jais raid, he said their insistence on pinning the blame on Putrajaya and the Prime Minister had put their integrity into question.
He noted that Pakatan had yet to instruct the return of the confiscated bibles.

ReplyDeleteWee Ka Siong, if you really dare, go to see the sultan of Selangor to fulfill your request, then followed by challenging the federal court verdict previously. You are considered as a stupid leader in BN, if you blame Selangor PR leadership due to the action performed by Jais.
ReplyDeleteKah kah kah kah kah.

Wee tongong. You are barking at the wrong tree.Have your short memory failed you as who is responsible for forbidding the non-muslim from using the word Allah in their bible? Isn't MCA a partner in the BN government? Why were you so quiet then? What you are complaining now shows that you are a 'munafik" a hypocrite.
