Urgent for PR leaders to talk, says Kit Siang
'Let's leave all aches and pains behind,' says the DAP elder.
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang has called for a meeting of the Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council before the end of the year, noting that the last meeting was held more than six months ago.
In a press statement welcoming a PAS proposal that Pakatan leaders should resume talks on the coalition’s directions, Lim said, “I personally hope that 2014 would not end without a meeting of the PR leadership council.”
PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar made the proposal at a press conference yesterday, in which he criticised DAP for questioning PAS President Hadi Awang’s absence from council meetings.
“The resumption of deliberations among the top PR leaders is an urgent agenda after a lapse of over six months,” Lim said.
“The first task of the PR top leadership is to assure the 52% of the electorate who had put their hope and trust in PR that the PR is intact.”
He said the meeting should reaffirm Pakatan’s common policy framework. He also called for “full respect and adherence” to the coalition’s “consensus principle”, which he said was “the fundamental operational principle” of Pakatan’s decision-making process.
“Pakatan Rakyat parties must be responsible to the 52% of the voters who supported them in the 13th general election, rendering the Umno/BN Federal Government the first minority government in the nation’s history, and PR leaders should not leave PR in a limbo,” he said.
He said the proposed meeting should set Pakatan in a new direction for the new year, “putting all the past aches and pains firmly behind it”.
Masalah PR hanya akibat dari Presiden PAS yang bongkak dan bahalol. Itu punca nya.
