Police probe Aziz Bari for embarrassing Rulers
He registers his surprise at being called in by the police as his earlier statements did not encourage violence or for the people to stage protests.
PETALING JAYA: Constitutional law expert Abdul Aziz Bari has registered his surprise at being called to the Bukit Aman police headquarters earlier today to have his statement recorded for urging the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers to take action following the US Department of Justice’s (DOJ) lawsuits linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Speaking to FMT, Aziz said he was questioned for half an hour this morning.
“The police said I was being investigated under the Sedition Act and for embarrassing the Rulers,” he said.
“They called me. They asked me a few questions. I answered whatever was required of me. I will give my cooperation to them,” he added.
Aziz said he was surprised however at being called in by the police as his statements last week did not call for any violence or even for the people to take their frustrations to the streets.
“My statements were only about urging the Rulers to take action. I did not ask anyone to stage a protest or (create) violence.”
About a week ago, Aziz accompanied Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng to lodge a police report against those named in the DoJ lawsuits filed last Wednesday in Los Angeles, US.
Aziz said Malaysians had been put through a “great deal of embarrassment” due to what he claimed as the local authorities’ “lack of efficiency”, compared with that of their US counterparts who were efficient with their work, even though it was not their problem.
He also said the Malaysian Attorney-General’s (AG) Chambers and the police should be ashamed of their inaction, and that the rakyat would be right if they called for the resignations of these individuals.
Aziz also called for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Conference of Rulers to intervene and take the necessary action to rectify the situation in the country.
He cautioned that if nothing concrete was done, citizens may follow the call of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to take to the streets to urge for Najib Razak’s resignation as Prime Minister of the country.
Aziz Bari disiasat akibat desak Agong campur tangan isu 1MDB
PETALING JAYA: Pakar perlembagaan Abdul Aziz Bari berkata keterangannya direkodkan di Bukit Aman hari ini berhubung siasatan terhadap kenyataannya yang mendesak Yang di-Pertuan Agong dan Majlis Raja-raja mengambil tindakan susulan tuntutan Jabatan Kehakiman Amerika Syarikat (DoJ) berkaitan 1MDB.
Katanya, soal siasat berjalan hanya setengah jam.
Najib memalukan Negara Malaysia camner!!
